The Northstar 2000 Group has been building quality
homes and a formidable reputation for the last 25 years.
We are proud of our business philosophy and we act with
integrity, honesty and are transparent in all our dealings.
A reflection of our work practices can be seen in the
developments completed to date. We are truly proud
of the high quality of our work and the reputation
we have built.
There is a time and a place for everything and the timing
in SE1 couldn’t be better. The South Bank of the Thames,
London SE1, has undergone the most extraordinary evolution
in recent history. The emergence of Borough as one of the
most desirable places to live in London, the construction
of More London and The Shard combined with the historic
Globe Theatre, Tate Modern and Millennium Bridge has
transformed the area.
The Valentine is situated in a prime location for you
to enjoy the SE1 lifestyle and provides modern one, two
and three bedroom apartments each of which have been
carefully designed to ensure the best possible use of
space and ease of living whilst remaining
stylish throughout.
Become a part of the SE1 experience that is continuing
to unfold in this desirable pocket of central London.
Property is Acorn’s passion and since 1995 we’ve made
our mark as an urban specialist, changing the face of
areas through innovative regeneration and exciting new
architecture, above all creating the kind of places
that people want to live, work and spend time in.
Acorn has played a key role in the regeneration of
London’s South Bank, in particular the Bermondsey Street
area. In the mid 1990s this forgotten part of South East
London comprised mostly of vacant or redundant industrial
buildings, many of which were contaminated due to their
use as tanneries in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
Now the area comprises of a mixture of stunning new
build mixed-use developments and refurbished Victorian
warehouses providing a thriving centre for modern
businesses employing hundreds of staff and providing
homes for a new generation of South Bank residents.

From Valentine SE1 walk east to old Bermondsey Market and Bermondsey Square
then turn north along Bermondsey Street with its bustling designer shops, art
galleries and restaurants through to More London. From here you can admire
the Thames, HMS Belfast, Hays Galleria, Tower Bridge and the magnificent views
of the Tower of London. Head further east towards Butlers Wharf or turn west
towards Borough.
Alternatively, walk due north of Valentine SE1 directly through to the Shard
which, along with Borough Market is just 500 yards away. Borough Market is
undoubtedly the best food market in London and quite possibly in Europe with
an amazing choice of restaurants and fresh produce and an atmosphere that
is unsurpassed. Stop for breakfast or a light lunch then explore Southwark
Cathedral, the Clink Prison Museum or The Golden Hind.
From Valentine SE1 take a gentle stroll west to the Globe Theatre and on
to the Millennium Bridge and the Tate Modern. Follow the Thames Path further
along the South Bank to the Millennium Wheel, National Theatre, the Royal
Festival Hall and on to County Hall, opposite the Houses of Parliament.
Borough and London Bridge Underground stations are both a short walk from
Valentine SE1 and from here you can travel all over London and indeed all
over the country with the greatest ease.
The South Bank is an area where homes
and businesses work together with apartments
that are etched from old warehouses, historic
wharves and striking modern architecture.
The Thames has witnessed the arrival of
magnificent architectural icons including
City Hall, More London and the unmistakable
outline of the Shard spectacularly piercing
the sky.
SE1 is now one of London’s most colourful
and exciting destinations, a magnet for
tourists, a mecca for food lovers, a centre
for the creative arts and a highly desirable
place to live.
SE1 is a ‘foodies’ heaven. For those who really appreciate
their food there is unparalleled choice. Rarely is there such
a high concentration of diverse culinary appeal in one
individual postcode than here in SE1 and with quantity comes
quality. There are delicatessens, fromageries, artisan bakeries
and coffee shops, family butchers, smokers and curers,
microbrewers and distillers.
Street food stalls entice you with vibrant colours and global
flavours, markets offer a fabulous multiplicity of fresh
seasonal produce both organic and biodynamic and an eclectic
range of independent restaurants offer casual, intimate
and the finest of dining.
The Valentine sits just a short walk to the markets and sophisticated dining districts that have put Borough firmly on London’s
gastronomic map. Crouched beneath the atmospheric railway arches that lead from London Bridge station are the stalls, pubs,
restaurants and bars of Borough Market. This sprawling concentration of fresh produce from specialist suppliers pulses with
life and character. Come early to spot celebrity chefs, sample cheeses, olives and charcuterie and beat the queues at the
popular street food stalls.
Weekends see the Ropewalk in Maltby Street come alive; this intimate food market will win you over with its friendly local
atmosphere and the irresistible aroma of freshly cooked bacon and ground coffee.
The converted warehouses of Butlers Wharf soar over the cobbled streets of Shad Thames and line the riverfront alongside
Tower Bridge. The stunning views are skilfully captured by a parade of exceptional restaurants including Pont de la Tour,
Tentazioni and the Blueprint Cafe.
Bermondsey Street is widely acknowledged to be one of London’s most cosmopolitan dining destinations. Try the hugely
popular and very French Casse-Croûte, visit José for exquisite Spanish tapas or elegant Zucca for flawless Italian food
presented with elegance.
Modern art has also carved a special niche here in SE1.
The boundary-pushing White Cube gallery has now confirmed
the region’s standing among London’s most cultural strips.
This commercial gallery and exhibition space is an
influential showcase for contemporary British and
international artists. Bermondsey Street is also home
to the Fashion and Textile Museum founded by iconic
British designer Zandra Rhodes.
The sleek lines of the Design Museum overlook the Thames
and the intricate contours of Tower Bridge. A changing
exhibition programme illustrates the best of modern
industrial and fashion design, graphics, architecture
and multimedia.
The Tate Modern is simply the world’s most visited modern
art gallery. Housed in a former power station, its seven
floors offer a unique insight into the international
art scene. The dramatic and gigantic Turbine Hall hosts
specially commissioned installations that have
revolutionised the public perception of contemporary art.
The SE1 postcode is so full it almost bursts at the seams.
It stretches from the London Eye, past the Tate Modern,
through Borough and London Bridge, then along to Butlers
Wharf and onwards to Bermondsey. The region is packed with
spectacular landmarks that are highly accessible from
Valentine SE1.
At SE1’s northern perimeter the River Thames graciously
sweeps its way through the most magnificent of London’s
panoramas and provides a spectacular walkway through central
London. From Tower to Millennium the bridges offer quick links
to the city or follow the flow on foot to the South Bank
and onwards to the Houses of Parliament.
It can hardly be called commuting when you can pick up your
morning coffee and stroll into the office. From Waterloo to
Wapping and from More London to Moorgate, your bases are
easily covered on foot.
Living in Zone 1 means you’re more likely to walk or pedal to your destination,
but when you do use the tube there are Northern and Jubilee line services
from London Bridge – and that’s just half a mile from Valentine SE1. From here
it’s a one stop hop to Bank, two to Moorgate or three to Canary Wharf and all
of central London is easily within your reach.
There’s a Barclays cycle docking station just across the road or take
a more leisurely trip on a river bus from London Bridge City Pier. Flag down
a cab to meet friends in Chelsea, for cricket at the Oval, lunch in Covent
Garden, music at the O2, shopping in the West End, or for an evening
in Soho’s theatreland.
For travel within the UK, all of London’s mainline stations are within
walking distance or a short tube ride away, while London City Airport and
the Eurostar terminal at St Pancras International both provide speedy
departures to Europe.
We were delighted to be selected by Acorn as architects for
designing the new Valentine Apartments. Acorn has a passion
for regeneration and design quality which fits well with
our own high design aspirations.
Our aim was to create a striking contemporary development providing
the best in modern living accommodation but which also referenced
the local warehouse vernacular such as can be seen at the Leathermarket.
The result is a development with light and spacious apartments, floor
to ceiling glazing and generous outdoor space carefully located
for views and sunlight.
Our principles of design ensure we exceed current European regulations
with highly efficient heating, good access to daylight and high
performance Scandinavian windows.
The interiors will be fitted out to Acorn’s exacting standards by their
own Interior Design team with high quality fixtures and fittings and
an attention to detail throughout.
